The best of buddies - Conner and JaceWell the Easter Bunny definitely found the Keys house this year!
Conner and Jace were just the right age to start the fun tradition of Easter egg hunts. We did three different hunts with them and they caught on really fast. Jace was especially fond of the "can-ee" (candy) component. Our first hunt was with the ward playgroup. I told the boys that morning that we were going to have an Easter Egg Hunt, I don't think that meant anything to them. Then I showed them their Easter baskets and told them that we would fin eggs to put in their baskets. The got really excited and held their baskets for the drive over. They got our ready to find eggs and I had to tell them we had to wait until everyone was there. While some of the parents hid the eggs we cornered the kiddos and then finally let them run free to find the eggs. Conner led the group...he was so excited, he didn't even care if his mom or brother were with him, he wanted some candy eggs!! Jace held my hand for a little bit and then when he saw kids putting eggs in their basket he got the picture. It was hard to keep an eye on both boys running different directions and making sure they each only took 10 eggs. They loved it!! Their favorite part was opening the eggs and eating the candy inside.

Conner, Ellie, JaceA few days later we did an Easter egg hunt with just a few of Conner and Jace's best buddies. It was fun to just have a few little kids running around. By this time they knew exactly what to do. Kevin was excited to be there since he was at school for the first hunt. He couldn't believe how slow they were at finding the eggs which were in plain view. By now the boys would pick up an egg and shake it to make sure there was really some candy inside. I had to repeatedly tell them to put all the eggs in their basket and we would open them afterwards. They would have been just as content to find one egg and sit and eat it before moving on to find the others.
Easter Sunday was a great day. Kevin and I were able to watch the movie "The Testaments" together while the boys slept. It was good to see it and really brought the Spirit. When the boys woke up they found their Easter baskets and spent FOREVER going through them. The Easter Bunny brought them sidewalk chalk, splash balls, books, squirt guns, and more candy!! After all the Easter egg hunts the boys learned what chocolate was and were no longer interested in colorful, and much neater, jelly beans. Conner tried to eat a lot of wrappers because he couldn't figure out how to get them all the way off. We also hid the Easter eggs that we had dyed the night before. The boys had lots of fun outside finding the eggs and not so gently dropping them in their baskets--thank goodness they were hard-boiled.

Conner's look of surprise at his new chalk (don't you love the chocolate in his mouth)!!
