Happy Birthday Kev!

Yesterday was Kevin's 27th birthday and we enjoyed having a reason to celebrate. I hope he had a good day...we tried to make it a special one. I woke up semi-early to make him a breakfast before school. (It's one of those things he only gets on special occasions, due to the fact that I love my sleep!) Then the boys and I picked him up from school to have lunch together. We always love having that break in our day with daddy. He is so fun! After school we worked on finishing moving the last of our "old"house into our "new" house. Then we showered and took the boys to a friend's house so we could enjoy an evening out together. It was much needed and greatly appreciated. We loved having some time to ourselves and didn't have to worry about which food item would be launched across the room next. Thanks again Crystal.....we really owe ya!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!!

I thought it would fun to post pictures of our recent birthday party with our little family of almost 5! As well as the first birthday of his that we celebrated together while we were dating!!!

We went to dinner at Goodwood BBQ and Kevin loved his full rack of ribs!! (and yes his hair was in need of a haircut

Little did we know that 4 years later we would be celebrating his birthday with our 2 boys....

Kevin with his new shades, baseball mitt, and bike trailer!!

The boys were so excited to sing Happy Birthday (they thought the song was for them) and then to help blow out candles. We ended up blowing them out about 30 times until the cake was covered in wax. I think they will be excited for their party next month!!

Moving Madness

Well as it turns out we will be moving this weekend. We are moving into the Scott's old house, just two doors down. It's nice that we will be able to stay in the same complex and have the same neighbors and security but moving is still moving. We still haven't signed the contract but we already have the keys and have been making lots of improvements. The downstairs floors including the kitchen are going to be finished within the next 6 months and we just finished a whole bunch of painting. The living room went from a really deep brown to a light and sunny yellow. The 1/2 bath downstairs is a darker yellow and then the boys room upstairs went from white to green. It looks more like home now. I think I have an addiction to brightly colored rooms, so much for the neutral.

We are going to be moving sometime this weekend, probably Saturday night. I am still overwhelmed at how much stuff we have collected over our short three years of being married. It is going to be quite the job but hopefully we will stay put until Kevin is done with school.

Well I hope you enjoy some of the pictures of our painting.

Grandma and Trent come to visit

We had a great long weekend with my mom (Grandma) and Uncle Trent. They came to see the Houston Rodeo and play with the boys. They were only here for 3 1/2 days but we sure made good use of every minute. Trent is my littlest sibling and he is 15. After only being in our house for about 15 minutes he already figured out that we had Free Movies on Demand and was so excited (we didn't even know we had them)! He spent all his down time surfing the movies and fell in love with Blue Bell Cookie Dough ice cream. I think he ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Oh well, that's what vacation is for, right?
Thursday we went to the Houston Zoo and walked all over. My mom and Trent loved to see how excited the boys were about seeing all the animals. We wore ourselves out in just a few hours. We made sure to see the Childrens Zoo and the boys including Trent couldn't resisit the water play area so they got soaking wet. After we were all tired we went home and picked up Kevin and drove to Brazos Bend State Park. It was the first time we had ever been there. It was exciting to try to pick out the alligators, they hide so well when they aren't moving. We ended up seeing about 30 gators and as the sun went down we saw even more. I was only slightly scared about one of the boys falling in the water and getting eaten alive!! It is so crazy that they are just wild out there and you can walk around with them. Ahhh!!!

Friday my mom and I took advantage of having such a great uncle around to watch the boys while we did some shopping. We went to Carters and got all our shopping done in one stop. It took a few hours but Trent kept the boys very entertained. Then we had some yummy Cold Stone ice cream to pay him off. That afternoon we took off to Galveston because they wanted to see what it looked like after the hurricane. It turned out to be kind of a cold and overcast afternoon but Kevin and Trent didn't seem to notice, they played in the water for a long time. The boys had endless entertainment on the sand and just loved being outside.

Of course we had to end their stay by hitting the Houston Rodeo on Saturday. We spent the day there with the boys. They loved the petting zoo and chasing the animals around. They thought it was hilarious to feed the animals and get their hand licked. After all the food was gone they would just pick up the sawdust off the ground and try to feed it to the animals.

After the petting zoo we had to hit up the farm and let the boys pretend to be farmers. I don't think they quite understood the whole story but they had a lot of fun doing all the farm jobs. They got to feed the chickens, collect eggs, pick peaches, milk the cow, plant a garden, ride a tractor, and then they got "paid" for their work and got to buy something at the store. They loved it!!! and I thought it was adorable!!

We had a great time at the rodeo and enjoyed some yummy rodeo food and funnel cakes. We also saw Trace Adkins that night as well as the rodeo. I really do love rodeos!!!!! YEE-HAW!!!

Bad News

Just when life starts to seem like everything is under control and going great.....something is bound to happen. Well, we thought everything was under control for the most part. Our baby girl is due May 31st. Kevin is scheduled to take his Boards part 1 in July. We found a way to make it to the family reunion in Utah. My mom bought tickets to come and help me in June. Life is going well.

Then the doorbell rang on Wednesday morning and I unexpectedly received a certified letter from our landlord. I was extremely confused but opened it and read it. It kindly said(if you can kindly say this) that our landlord would like to sell this unit and we have until the end of April to move out. I was in shock!!! Of course when you are pregnant everything seems worse than it is. I was having this thought of having to move out 8 months pregnant with no where to go and no money.

Of course after I broke the news to Kevin is didn't sound so bad. I guess I am lucky I am married to a rock. He hardly waivered and said, "Okay, well then let's start looking." That's Kevin for ya. So for the last 3 days we have been looking. We want to stay in our current complex if possible because we like our neighbors and I feel extremely safe here , not to mention how much I will enjoy the pool this summer. We have looked at about 6 units and all of them are in much worse condition than ours and the rent is atleast$150 dollars a month more. We feel really stuck.

Luckily, our fabulous neighbors the Scotts just moved out (not lucky that they moved out, we were extremely sad about that) but lucky that their unit is now for rent. We are now thinking that we can move just 2 doors down and actually end up saving $50 a month in rent.

Well we still have a bunch of details to work out but we hope this will all be over as quick as it started.

Haircuts

It was haircut time again at our house and that means that all the boys get haircuts. Kevin has been cutting his own hair for a couple years now and so he does the boys at the same time. I thought it would freak them out but they seem to like it. It's just something that they get to do just like dad.

Kevin and I always battle over how long he should leave it. He is of the opinion that shorter is better and I like it slightly longer (after all they were bald for the first year of their life!). Either way it always turns out fine and then they boys enjoy a bath in the "big tub" to wash all the hair off.

Family Fishing

Well now that it is starting to warm up a bit, Kevin has gotten the fishing itch. Everyday that he gets out of school before 4 he rushes home and gets ready to head to the park. The boys are just old enough to understand what that means. They love playing outside and they think they are really good at fishing. The boys always spend most of their time looking for bait, which usually ends up being frogs, worms, and bugs -whatever they can find. The boys have more fun catching the bait than waiting for a fish to bite.

Lately we have been fishing at the Tom Bass Regional Park just off of 288. It has easy access and the boys can play on the shore. This last time we went we did remember to bring the camera but the batteries ended up dying before I got any really good shots. The boys ended up playing in the mud for most of the time and then Conner found an extra fishing pole of Dad's and walked around whipping it around "catching fish" which actually ended up to be catching Jace most of the time. Kevin and I would be talking on our chairs and then we would hear "Stuck, Help You" from Jace. The interpretation is "I am stuck, please come help me!" Conner got him pretty tangled in all that fishing line. It was loads of fun.

Sorry the pictures aren't better, our camera is on its last leg.
